Despite its bad reputation, the striped skunk is one of the most useful small mammals
Retour aux pensionnairesLike most animals, the skunk prefers to retreat rather than approach a larger predator. Skunks do not spray as readily as one would think. In fact they give several warnings by scrapping & taping its front paws. It is only once the warnings have not been understood or taken seriously that the skunk will spray.
Did you know that the skunk is an omnivore? Eating everything from insects to plants, it provides critical control of pests such as mice, larvae & insects. Often compared its size to that of a cat; it weighs on average 3.25 kg
The territory where one can find the striped skunk is extremely vast. It stretches from the centre of Mexico to Nunavut & the North Western Territories and from the Maritimes to the centre west of British Columbia.
