The adult moose equipped with a full set of antlers is the most imposing animal in North America . The span of the antlers varies between 120cm & 150cm (4-5 feet). In Quebec the big males can weigh up to 600kg (1300 lbs)

At the Refuge Pageau, the moose arrive as young orphans and remain for the duration of their life due to their close contact with humans. To support themselves, the moose require no less than 20kgs of vegetation per day. The workforce is dispatched each day to freshly acquire the necessary food.
Did you know, even though they don’t look it, moose are great swimmers. They can swim up to 19 km and dive to a depth 5.5m to feed on aquatic plants.
In the forest, moose feed themselves with the leaves, tree bark, upland & aquatic plants. In captivity, to overcome dietary deficiencies, the moose’s regular diet of leaves & branches is mixed with mulch.
